TEMPERATURE RANGE

All JUTENG products are available at three operating temperature ranges:

Standard (ST) temperature: -25 to 80°C [-13 to 176°F]

Low (LT) temperature: -40 to 80°C [-40 to 176°F]

High (HT) temperature: -5 to 175°C [23 to 347°F]

For gas springs intended for use in temperature extremes, the effect of temperature on pressure should be considered when specifying the P1 force value. Unless requested otherwise, IGS gas springs are designed to meet their force specification at 20°C.

Governed by Charles’s Law, the internal pressure of a gas spring and consecutively, its force, is directly proportional to the temperature of the gas.

To calculate the force of a gas spring at different temperatures, the following equation can be used:gas springs-force equation

Where F2 is the spring force at the target temperature, F1 is the force at initial temperature; T2 is the target temperature and T1 is the initial temperature in °K (degrees Kelvin). For calculations in Celsius or Fahrenheit, T1 and T2 should be converted to degrees Kelvin.

IGS will perform the above calculation free of charge for LT or HT springs provided that the operating temperature is known.
